Who We Are

Source Protection Areas

The Lake Erie Source Protection Region is one of 19 regions in Ontario created to carry out drinking water source protection planning under the Clean Water Act, 2006.

The region has four watersheds. In the Act they are called Source Protection Areas:

  1. Catfish Creek
  2. Grand River
  3. Kettle Creek
  4. Long Point Region

Committee and meetings

The Lake Erie Region Source Protection Committee leads the development and update of source protection plans for each of the four Source Protection Areas, and reports on progress implementing the plans. It is a multi-stakeholder committee with members representing those with a stake in drinking water issues: residents, municipalities, farmers, businesses, industries and others.

Our committee meets about four times a year. Meetings are held virtually or in person at the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) administration centre at 400 Clyde Road in Cambridge.

Meetings are open to the public. View our meetings and events calendar to see the meeting schedule, agendas and minutes.

Our committee is supported by program staff who work at the head office of the GRCA. They are joined by staff members of the other three conservation authorities. See the Contact Us page for more information.

The committee and staff members also work closely with municipal staff throughout the Lake Erie Source Protection Region.
