Long Point Region Source Protection Plan

An update of the Long Point Region Source Protection Plan came into effect on May 22, 2020. The plan underwent a further minor amendment (PDF - 481 KB) in March 2022.

The plan has two volumes:

1. Volume 1 (PDF - 7 MB) provides the history of source protection planning and the Clean Water Act, 2006, plan objectives, and description of the watershed.

2. Volume 2 contains the plan policies for each municipality:

    1. Chapters 1-2 (PDF - 773 KB): Introduction, how to read the plan policies
    2. Chapter 3 (PDF - 3 MB): Oxford County
    3. Chapter 4 (PDF - 4 MB): Norfolk County
    4. Chapter 5 (PDF - 527 KB): Haldimand County
    5. Chapter 6 (PDF - 989 KB): Elgin County, Municipality of Bayham

These documents will help you to understand the plan policies and how they apply in the watershed.

  • Source Protection Information Atlas: use this Provincial tool to search your property and see if it could be impacted by source protection plan policies.
  • The Tables of Drinking Water Threats: we use these tables to identify and rank potential significant drinking water threats in the assessment report.
