Grand River Source Protection Plan

An amendment to the Grand River Source Protection Plan completed under section 34 of the Clean Water Act, 2006 was approved on September 9, 2024 and came into effect on September 11, 2024. The amendment affects the Townships of Melancthon, Amaranth and East Garafraxa, and includes a new water supply for the Town of Shelburne. The amended Grand River Source Protection Plan will be posted here in the near future.

The plan has two volumes:

  1. Volume 1 (PDF - 2 MB) provides the history of source protection planning and the Clean Water Act,  plan objectives, and description of the watershed.
  2. Volume 2 contains the plan policies for each municipality:
