Grand River Background Reports

We developed several reports during the planning process under the Clean Water Act, 2006, and its regulations. These included a Terms of Reference, a Watershed Characterization Report and others.

In addition, the planning process also relied on studies done by the Grand River Conservation Authority as part of its regular work.

The Grand River Source Protection Authority developed a Terms of Reference. It was the work plan for the Lake Erie Region Source Protection Committee and source protection staff. It outlined water systems to be studied, scientific studies needed, and who would complete them.

For the most current information on the state of water resources in the Grand River watershed explore the Grand River water management plan. The plan is a watershed wide approach to address the overall needs and to achieve common goals within the watershed.

The characterization report is a summary of the state of the watershed in 2008. It has information on the watershed's physical characteristics, land use, population and growth, water systems, water sources, water quality, vulnerable areas and other matters.

This report provides population and employment projections to 2056. This information forecasts water demand.
