The Lake Erie Region is one of 19 source protection regions in Ontario.
Each region includes one to five watersheds, also called Source Protection Areas under the Clean Water Act, 2006. The boundaries of these follow natural, watershed boundaries, and not municipal boundaries. Some municipalities may be located in more than one Source Protection Area.
