The Lake Erie Region Source Protection Committee has the responsibility to develop and update source protection plans and report on progress implementing the plans.
Our committee oversees work in four Source Protection Areas (watersheds): Catfish Creek, Grand River, Kettle Creek and Long Point Region.

Members and composition
Ontario Regulation 288/07 details the size and different types of members that must be on the committee.There are 24 members on our committee:
- Seven municipal representatives - arranged into seven groups to represent the 52 municipalites in the Lake Erie Source Protection Region;
- Seven economic sector representatives - three from agriculture, three from business and industry, and one from the aggregate sector;
- Seven public interest representatives; and
- Three First Nations representatives.
The Ontario government selects and appoints the committee chair. The current acting chair is Alan Dale.
Three non-voting liaison also participate in committee meetings:
- A provincial liaison named by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks;
- A representative of the health units in the Lake Erie Source Protection Region; and
- A representative of the four source protection authorities in the Lake Erie Source Protection Region.
