Members of the public are invited to comment on the proposed updates to the Drinking Water Source Protection Plan for the Grand River watershed. The plan has been prepared under the Clean Water Act, 2006 to protect municipal sources of drinking water and ensure their sustainable use into the future.
The Source Protection Program is designed with continuous improvements in mind. Updates to the Grand River Source Protection Plan are proposed as a result of policy updates and the completion of a technical study for the Town of Shelburne Water Supply System that impacts the Townships of Melancthon, Amaranth and East Garafraxa. This study provides a measured assessment of current and future sustainability of sources of municipal drinking water in light of growth and development. The results of this study have been included in the draft updated Source Protection Plan.
The draft updated plan is now available for review online at www.sourcewater.ca/GR-SPP-Update, and in hard copy at the following locations:
Public comments and questions about the changes presented in the draft updated Source Protection Plan are welcome. Only comments that address the proposed changes of this draft plan update will be considered. Members of the public are invited to submit comments in writing to:
